Durable Medical Equipment

Durable Medical Equipment is equipment which is primarily and customarily used for medical purposes. Whether furnished on a rental basis or purchased, durable medical equipment is a term used to describe any medical equipment used in the home, assisted living community or nursing home to aid in a better quality of living.

Most insurance covers some if not all Medical Equipment. In order to get the equipment covered, your physician must write an order.

Durable Medical Equipment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Wheelchairs
  • Hospital beds
  • Traction equipment
  • Canes
  • Crutches
  • Walkers
  • Ventilators
  • Oxygen
  • Nebulizers
  • Pressure mattresses
